 +The Special Called Meeting of the Mayor and City Council convened at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2019 at the Train Depot.

 +**MEMBERS PRESENT:​** ​ Mayor Walter Turner, Chris Mason, Erie Barker, Brittany Wainwright and Libby Bond.

 +**MEMBERS NOT PRESENT:​** ​ Danny Perkins and Walker Moore

 +**INNVOCATION:​** ​ Pam Dowdy

 +**AGENDA**

 +Chris Mason made a motion to approve agenda as presented. Erie Barker seconded the motion. Walter Turner, Libby Bond and Brittany Wainwright voted in favor. ​ The motion passed.
 +After lengthy discussion on the budget. Libby Bond made a motion to move to Executive Session. Erie Barker seconded the motion. ​ Brittany Wainwright then suggested that State Representative Patty Bentley be permitted to speak to Council prior to moving to Executive Session.
 +
 +Representative Bentley expressed grave concern over the City of Reynolds filing a Civil lawsuit against the City of Butler and Oglethorpe for payment of Officer’s contracts. ​ Rep. Bentley stated Civil lawsuits can be a nightmare. ​ She added keep in mind what your pushing for at the end of the fight, what have you truly gained. She emphasized that lawsuits can become very costly.  ​
 +Mayor Turner responded that the City of Reynolds had attempted to negotiate to no avail. ​ Chris Mason emphasized again that Butler was not willing to negotiate and that the law was on our side. He stated, “We have a legal contract. It’s not beneficial to the citizens of Reynolds for us to turn a blind eye.”

 +Libby Bond again made a motion to move to Executive Session. ​ Brittany Wainwright seconded the motion. Mayor Turner, Erie Barker and Chris Mason voted in favor.

 +Upon returning to regular session Libby Bond made a move to obtain more information on salaries before making a decision on employee raises. ​ Erie Barker seconded the motion. ​ Mayor Turner, Chris Mason and Brittany Wainwright voted in favor. ​ The motion passed.

 +Chris Mason made a motion to give the Assistant City Clerk, Tammy Jones a bonus of $500.00 for her accepting the additional responsibilities while the City Clerk was out for surgery and currently while attempts are being made to fill the Court Clerk position. ​ Libby Bonds seconded the motion. Mayor Turner, Erie Barker and Brittany Wainwright voted in favor. ​ The motion passed.  ​
 +Libby Bond made a motion to hire William Noland, of Noland Law Firm, LLC to represent the City of Reynolds in the pending lawsuits with the Cities of Butler and Oglethorpe. ​ Chris Mason seconded the motion. Mayor Turner, Erie Barker and Brittany Wainwright voted in favor. ​ The motion passed. ​
