 +The work session/​meeting of the Mayor and City Council convened at 6:37 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23 2019 at the Train Depot.

 +**MEMBERS PRESENT:​** ​ Mayor Walter Turner, Chris Mason and Libby Bond.  Erie Barker arrived shortly after meeting started.

 +**MEMBERS NOT PRESENT:​** ​ Brittany Wainwright, Walker Moore and Danny Perkins ​

 +**INVOCATION:​** Libby Bond

 +**ADOPTION OF PROPSED AGENDA**
 +
 +Chris Mason made a motion to adopt the proposed agenda. ​ Libby Bond seconded the motion. ​ Mayor, Walter Turner voted in favor. ​ The motion passed.
 +
 +**BUSINESS**
 +
 +City Clerk, Pam Dowdy discussed the proposed budget as presented and informed Council of the need to increase water rates and taxes. ​ The city is currently applying for a USDA loan for a water project and rates will need to cover some of the costs involved with the project.
 +Pam also advised Council of the need to consider raising taxes again this year as the city would not be receiving the additional $50K that it did the previous fiscal year as a result of the employee theft settlement received.  ​
 +Members of the Council present made the decision to administer raises as discussed in previous meetings.

 +Libby Bond made a motion to adopt the proposed budget as presented acknowledging the need to increase water rates and property taxes. Erie Barker seconded the motion. ​ Mayor, Walter Turner and Chris Mason voted in favor. ​ The motion passed.

 +City Clerk, Pam Dowdy will schedule a date for the hearing and publish the notice in the local paper.
